Hmm. Yeah.

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 11, 2008, 1:24 PM
I thought i should at least show that i'm still a bit alive... So, here we go.

It's been well over a year since i opened this account, and only now i managed to hit 1000.... But meh, i'm not looking for hits. I just like DeviantArt as a place where i can look at fantastic art and artists, having an account makes it easier... And i might aswell post some drawings i made quite a while ago.

But i haven't posted anything new in a while, mostly since i haven't found the time, motivation or inspiration to start on something or even practice... But that might change, depending on what kind of courses i have on the Uni :D

I might actually be starting on some concepting for a game idea. I've been wanting to make games since forever, i'm just a lazy git that never gets started on it... That and the university, EVE and WoW take a lot of my time. Still.

But now i've got some free time coming up, and i want to finally get started on this properly. I've had some plans on making games, 3 in particular. The first one is an RPG with some whacked content. Think of stuff like the repeating-pike-crossbow-launcher, and monsters called "pillowhuggers". In the same vein i've got a more serious setting for it aswell, based on the idea that the player has no idea what world he's landed in (making the setting and prime fiction much more accessible throughout the game in a lot of ways).

The second is a remake of the original MDK. I've loved the game ever since i first played the demo, and i've always wanted to get more people to play it... It's quite an underground game, more played now because it's the best you can find on abandonware sites rather than because it's a good game.

The third is the one i'll most likely be going with, namely a game with a survival-horror theme, heavily sci-fi themed, but still recognizable. I want it to be really scary - Not just scary, but really scary. I want to try and break some horror cliches, and even get people who watch horror movies for a living jump out of their chairs screaming. I might want to put some of my own fears in it (let me tell you - i'm not that easily scared). And the ending is something i've been thinking about already, and you'll either love or hate it. It won't be what you're expecting in any case.

It's not going to be a game where you are assumed to know loads of stuff in advance, where you are a battle-hardened veteran which is commended by all the npc's you'd meet. You can make your own character, and it will have some RPG elements... Most likely you'll play a cyborg of sorts. I know you're thinking of System Shock at this point, but it won't be anything like that game at all. While there may be references to SS2, it won't actually be like it.

The goal with this game is to make an experience that really sucks you in. A game that really involves you, rather than "a player". A game which has moments not unlike those in the marine campaign of AVP2, but better. Ah well, lots of ambitions, we'll see where we are next year around this time.

I already know i'm going to use UT3 as a base for this. I don't know exactly how it works, but i'm somewhat familiar with the editor, and i hear a lot of good things about it's modability. Depending on a new "make something unreal" contest, i might be going for the main prize... (last time, that was an unreal engine license).

Anyway, back to the main issue. Yes, i'm still alive and adding to my collection of watched people and favourites... I've spent way too much time going around galleries here.
